How to connect a channel
Most channels are added from the onboarding wizard or with one command, then secured with pairing.
- Add the channel with its tokenTerminal
openclaw channels add --channel telegram --token <bot-token> - Or log in for QR-code and account channels, such as WhatsAppTerminal
openclaw channels login - Approve yourself when you send the first messageTerminal
openclaw pairing list openclaw pairing approve telegram <code>
On channels that support direct messages, unknown senders are held until you approve them. Nobody can command your assistant just by finding it.
Limit each channel to specific numbers, users or groups in your config, for example with WhatsApp's allowFrom.
On Discord, LINE, Matrix, Slack and Telegram, OpenClaw introduces itself when added to a group. Turn this off with joinIntro: false.
Every channel reaches the same assistant. Use multi-agent routing to give a work channel and a family channel different agents.
